đź’»5 nutrition webinars: my top takeaways

Pryvit! (Hello in Ukrainian),

I always have my nose in new health research, so I’m sharing some of the most relevant studies and news with you.

In the past couple of weeks I attended five online nutrition and food webinars hosted by experts. They covered the latest information about:

  1. dietary fibre
  2. ultra-processed foods (UPFs) and obesity
  3. food policy
  4. nutrition randomized control trials (RCTs)
  5. misinformation

My latest blog post summarizes my top 5 takeaways from each of the five sessions, hence 25 nutrition learnings.

A few key points that paved the way for interesting and more detailed discussions were:

  • the most fundamental nutrition recommendations have been consistent over the decades (experts may disagree on details, but generally agree on the basics)
  • average people don't consume enough of the basics (fibre, vegetables, etc.) as they should—and why that is (hint: it's not due to individuals' failure of willpower)
  • having better scientific evidence doesn't always translate to better information for the public (there is a lot of misrepresentation)
