Combatting fake health news and misinformation

Pryvit! (Hello in Ukrainian),

I always have my nose in new health research, so I wanted to let you know of a free online health symposium happening this week (Tues, Dec 9 - Wed, Dec 10).

That symposium, plus Oxford Dictionary's word of the year, inspired me to update an older blog post on How Fake News is Spread.

In the Global Health Misinformation Symposium this week there might be a talk that applies to your health practice. Personally, I'm planning to attend as many talks as I can.

Some of the symposium topics include detecting AI misinformation, food industry influence, the health impacts of ultra-processed foods, and how algorithms and digital media spread incorrect information.

The symposium is being hosted by the True Health Initiative which is an organization of many health professionals who work together to help spread the highest quality and most accurate scientific health information.

Here's what the THI website says about itself:

Our mission is to uphold and promote the universal, evidence-based principles of healthy living — principles that can both add years to your life and life to your years.

I'll share some of my learnings from this Global Health Misinformation Symposium in an upcoming blog post or newsletter. In the meantime, you can register to watch these for free yourself here:
